Heller Hydraulic Press Brakes are highly productive, accurate, and economical. Through advanced
design and construction, Heller offers quality Hydraulic Press Brakes that incorporate conventional
down-stroking ram design.

All Heller Hydraulic Press Brakes are easy to operate and provide simplified and easily accessible
controls for optimum operator efficiency and output. The frame construction features stress-relieved, heavy, rolled steel plates and is designed for optimum rigidity and cross-system alignment.

Heller's engineering/manufacturing process assures unrivaled precision and durability for years of
trouble-free service.

Superior Ram Design
Heller Hydraulic Press Brakes feature a proven, down-stroking ram system that results in increased operator control while reducing operator fatigue caused by up-stroking ram designs.
The Heller ram system consists of a thick, rugged ram that moves between extra heavy side frames.

A massive steel torsion shaft is used to maintain ram parallelism until the mechanical stops are
engaged and lower dead bottom is reached. Mechanical depth stops ensure constant ram penetration accuracy of +/- .0004. This system eliminates the need for sophisticated and high-maintenance
hydraulic proportional valves, steel tapes, and micro switches.

Precision Mechanical Depth Stops
Keyed precision mechanical depth stops insure constant ram penetration accuracy of +/- .0004.

Limit Switches
Auxiliary limit switch controls are utilized when not using mechanical depth stops.

Overload Protection System
Overloading and damage to the press brake and tooling is prevented by a quick response relief valve system.

Adjustable Stroke and Speed Controls

Stroke length can be adjusted by moving the cam to a position on the slide that will control the
upper most limit of the ram. The ram decelerator adjustment is automatic, allowing the brake to go into work speed on contact with material.

Adjustable Bearing Block
The adjustable bearing block transmits bed loads to the frame, minimizing concentrated stresses.
These blocks also allow for rapid paralleling of bed and ram.

Torsion Bar
Heller Hydraulic Press Brakes have massive torsion bars which insure parallelism and three running modes:
1. Inching, for setting up tools or fixturing.
2. Singles stroke, for repetitive work.
3. Continuous stroke, where high production is suggested.

Smooth power stroke avoiding undesirable slipping of the work piece which reduces costly scrapping
of parts. The Heller Press Brake automatically shifts into slow work speed on contact with material.

Stroke Length Adjustment
The Heller Pres Brake requires adjustment only to the top of the stroke. The starting point of work
speed is set automatically when the upper blade contacts the material. This eliminates time
consuming work speed in the air.

Hydraulic Manifold Control Block
All main operating valves are incorporated into one side is a compact manifold control block.
The manifold block permits quick replacement and adding of more valves for auxiliary functions
of NC or CNC Systems. The possibility of fluid leaks are greatly reduced since interconnecting valve piping is eliminated.

Precision Slides
The ram is accurately guided with minimal clearance in long slide ways covered with replaceable,
anti-friction material. Wear adjustment can be carried out at any time to insure continued precision.

Actuating Controls

A three-position foot switch, key selector switch for job, full stroke, and automatic stroke and
dual palm buttons are provided as standard. For precise control of ram travel, especially for scribed line work, the operator can switch the press to an "inching" mode that allows jogging the ram to a scribed line.

Compact, High-Speed Hydraulic System
Multi-speed, self-contained power unit with high performance gear pump and heavy-duty motor
provides clear working space and accessibility.

Sectional Ram Clamp Bars
Separate sectional clamping bars are supplied as standard equipment in order to securely fasten
short dies, as well as standard length tooling. Unique crown correcting device is standard.

Heller Hydraulic Shears

Heller Hydraulic Shears are designed and constructed to provide high-speed shearing of blanks
with clean, square edges, and to exacting working tolerances. All Heller Hydraulic Shears feature the swing beam design ensuring consistently accurate parts while providing smooth, quiet operation.

These cost efficient, quality shears are available in capacities
from 1/4" - 3/4" and 98" - 194" cutting length. Unitized box construction provides for maximum rigidity and strength.

This simple design with swing beam upper blade, strong rigid frames, and constant minimum
rake angle assures that the sheared blanks are precisely cut within a minimum of bow twist
or camber.

Heller Hydraulic Plate Shears are equipped with the productive features and safety devices
for optimum, accurate shearing performance found on more expensive units. Feature for feature,
Heller Hydraulic Shears are a smart, economical choice for plate shearing.

Mitsubishi Touch Screen PLC Control
The new 5.7 inch LCD touch screen controls settings for the blade gap adjustment, length
of stroke, back gauge setting (inches or mm) and number of cuts. You only need to input the parameters you require. You can store up to 10 different job steps.

Blade Gap Adjustment
A conveniently located adjustment on the touch screen enables the operator to accurately adjust
the blade clearance on both sides of the machine simultaneously.

Electronic Stroke Adjustment
For faster stroke rates, the operator can quickly adjust the stroke length to suit the job. Smaller
blanks require less stroke length, thus providing faster cycling of the beam.

Front-Controlled Power Back Gauge
The standard heavy-duty, motorized back gauge is front operated and adjusted through the
touch screen PLC. The precision back gauge is two position -- "down" for positioning and shearing and "up" for clearance. The gauge stop, automatic "retreat" position allows for shearing pieces longer
than the extended range of the back gauge. The gauge reads in inches or millimeters.

Rear Guards and Work Piece Recovery
The rear of the shear is protected by a full width gate. There is a new work piece receiver
with ball transfers installed that allows easy retrieval of the sheared piece.

Swing Beam Design
The beam holding the upper knife pivots on large spherical roller bearings, while hydraulic cylinders
mounted into the side frames generate the cutting pressure. At the end of each cutting stroke,
the hydraulic pressure is released and return cylinders move the beam to the top of stroke.

The back gauge design and its interconnection with the swing beam gives immediate clearance
to the sheared material, allowing it to drop away without jamming the lower blade and back gauge. Less maintenance is required with the swing beam design, since guides and slideways are eliminated.

Rugged Construction

Stressed-relieved, unitized box construction of the table and extra thick, rolled steel frames
provide maximum resistance to deflection and torsional force. Increased throat depth in the side frames
allows for progressive slitting of strips longer than the blades. Due to swing beam design, there
is no deflection at the throat area of the shear.

Minimum Rake Angle

Due to strong, rigid construction, swing beam design, and powerful hydraulics, Heller Hydraulic
Shears feature a constant minimum rake angle for consistent quality shearing, at full capacity, with the
least amount of distortion.

Pressure Sensing Hold Downs
Hydraulic hold downs are synchronized with the upper blade travel to provide maximum hold down
pressure at the moment of shearing, thus, assuring cutting accuracy. As shearing forces on the
plate increase, the hold down pressure increases to provide optimum gripping action. The hold down
feet can hold two or more plates of different thicknesses for simultaneous shearing on the same stroke.
At one end of the shear, two hold downs are mounted close together for ease in cutting narrow strips.

Squaring Arm

All shears are equipped with a heavy-duty squaring arm which is mounted at precisely 90 degrees
to the shear blades. The squaring arm has a recessed stainless steel rule in inch/metric. The shear is also equipped with ball transfers to facilitate even the heaviest jobs.

Modern Block Hydraulics

The hydraulic system is comprised of long life, heavy-duty components mounted on a common
block. Tubes and connections are minimized, and access and seviceability are made easy. The internal
gear pump is quiet and extremely reliable, and is rated for years of trouble-free service.
The large capacity oil reservoir eliminates the need for oil cooler. A factory preset relief
valve prevents overloading mechanical parts and the hydraulic circuit.

Hinged Inter-Locked Barrier Guards

The Heller Shear has a unique inter-locked barrier guard. This allows the operator to safely pick up
one side of the guard in order to work short pieces. Lifting the guard disconnects power to the foot pedal.
The shear will not operate until the guard is lowered into the down position.

Shadow Lighting

For fast, visual positioning of sheets with scribed lines or punch marks, an intense light is provided.
The light source casts a precise shadow line for accurate positioning and shearing.

Hydraulic Cylinders

The hydraulic cylinders are mounted in cutouts within the extra thick side frames for easy accessibility. Separate, nitrogen-filled, return cylinders are mounted behind the hydraulic cylinders. The return cylinders, independent from the hydraulic cylinders, automatically retract the blade to the top of stroke position
during power shut down, emergency, ot after the cutting stroke is completed. They also act as
counterbalance to the shear.

Blade Clearance Adjustment

The clearance between the blades determines the quality of the cut edge and the thickness of metal that
can be cut on a specific shear. Excessive clearance can produce a deformed, burred edge, while insufficient clearance usually results in a secondary shear or broken edge. Proper blade clearance normally produces clean, square edges on every part.

Quality Blades

Shears up to 1/4" capacity are equipped with high carbon, high chrome blades. All models, 3/8" capacity
and above, are furnished with "shock resistant" steel blades.
